Mad Makara

Find out why Makara Mountain Bike park is the jewel in Wellington’s inner city crown - runners only, just for one day! These tracks are all open and well formed, with a little climbing at the start. They are all a really good intro to XTERRA Trail Running. There's nothing too technical, they include some bush clad trails mixed with some 4WD tracks with open views. The tracks are quite protected should the weather be dodgy. Medium & Long will have a fair amount of climbing, although you don't go that high. You do get nice views from Makara peak, but ensure you pack some warm clothes as it can get chilly on the ridge line.
