EVENT OVERVIEW

Waihi Beach School is going ‘Over the Top’ with a community event.  For the 5th year running, we have our Fun Run which has ‘Something for Everyone!’

All proceeds from this event are going to Waihi Beach Primary School.

This fun run has 3 different options.  Our aim is to offer a course for all abilities while promoting the beautiful environment in which our children live.

3km Run/Walk - This course goes along our white sandy beach starting from Brighton Reserve and heading south. This is a flat course, which is buggy friendly and finishes at Brighton Reserve. Due to new guidelines following Covid-19, we now require all participants to register.

6km Run/Walk - This course starts at Brighton Reserve, heading north along Waihi Beach over to Orokawa Bay, returning to Brighton Reserve on the same track.  We use this route for school trips and camp excursions. This is an achievable distance, on a well-defined track. Participants will enjoy the bush environment and a beautiful coastal walkway.
We will have approximately 6-8 marshals along this route.  Children 8yrs and under must be with adult supervision.

10km  Run/Walk -  This is a more challenging course with a good level of fitness required. It starts at Brighton Reserve heading north along Waihi Beach, over to Orokawa Bay, then carries on the Doc track towards Homunga Bay. Participants will turn around at the fence style and return back along the same track.
This is a hilly, challenging route which offers great views and will appeal to the more adventurous, who are up for a challenge. This route also offers different bush and bird life.
This event has an age and ability restriction.  Participants must be at least 11 years old.  We will have approximately 10-12 marshals along this route as well as SARS volunteers with radio communication.

We will have a ‘Tail End Charlie’ to come in behind the slowest runner.
