The Norsewood to Takapau Fun Challenge is back!

Participants enjoy a fun, family and friends event along scenic country roads. 
Starting from the historic Norsewood Village and taking the back roads to Takapau, the undulating course encompasses beautiful dairy country and passes the Southern Star Abbey.
With the snow capped Ruahine Ranges in the background, they experience a relaxed atmosphere, breathe in the freshest air and take part in a great fundraiser.

10km or 21.1km Run or Walk 
20km, 40km or 80km Cycle 


Compete as an indiviudal or part of a team. 
Teams can compete together as a relay - with each member completing a section of the course. 
Maximum 4 members per team.  The changeover points for walking/running relay teams are located approximately 5 km apart at the
three main water/transition station.    
TEAM TRANSPORT - relay teams are encouraged to keep support vehicles to a minimum around the course.
There is to be NO following or driving alongside runners and walkers. Pick ups at official transition points only please.

ENTRY PRICES 
Adult Entry (18+) - $25
Child/Youth Entry (5 -18) - $5 
Under 5 Entry - Free


All funds raised will go towards new technology for Takapau School


SHUTTLE SERVICE
First van leaves Takapau at 7.15am  to transport participants
and their bikes to the Norsewood Community Hall to complete the sign-in or registration process.
Vans will run continuously until 10.30am - just be waiting at the 'Pick up Point' at the Charles Street
entrance to Takapau school and jump aboard when one returns.

Post-event shuttles will leave from Takapau School at the conclusion of the prize giving (approx 1.00pm)
and will transport those participants (and their bikes) needng to return to the Norsewood Community Hall.

It is important to indicate on your registration form if you will require this service to enable us to provide sufficient vehicles.

KEY LOCATIONS
Registration: Opens at 7.30am

Norsewood War Memorial Hall, Coronation St, Norsewood
New entries and sign-in for Pre-registered participants.

Cycle Checks - From 7.30am onwards: 
All cyclists must have their cycle and helmet checked on the day prior to signing in. 
A checkpoint will be set up outside the Norsewood War Memorial Hall with designated Marshals to complete a safety check.

Registration for each section closes 15 minutes prior to the start of that race for race briefing.

Start line: Outside Norsewood School - corner of Coronation St and Thor St, Upper Norsewood.

10km option: Participants are to be transported by shuttle at 9.45am after the race briefing to the half way point
(Southern Star Abbey transition station) where they will be set off by a designated Marshal at 10.30am.

Finish line and Prize giving: Takapau Primary School - Charles Street Entrance. 

Food & refreshments will be available for purchase at the finish line hosted by Takapau School.

There are toilets available at the Kowhai Woolshed, Kopua Rd (approximately 8kms into the course. 
Drinking water will be available at this stop but this is not a team transition point.

EXTREME WEATHER 
The event will be on rain or shine.  However, if the weather is EXCEPTIONALLY horrendous immediate notification will posted on the
Norsewood to Takapau Facebook page, followed by an email to all pre-registered participants and updates on Central FM .  Listen to 99.4, 105.2 or 106.0 – NO POSTPONEMENT DATE
 

HEALTH & SAFETY
FIRST AID 
First aid kits
 will be available at the start and finish lines, at all transitition points, in the Sport HB car and tail-end-charlie vehicle.
Please notify race officials if you have any known medical issues or disabilities that may require you to need assistance.

Remember: All roads are open to normal traffic, so please be careful when out on the course

ASSISTANCE
The Sport HB car will be roaming the course to pick up anyone in need of assistance.

In case of emergency always dial 111
however for non-emergency assistance your options are as follows:
Ask a road marshal or transition station marshal to alert the roving vehicle to pick you up.
If you are between transition points, flag down the Sport HB vehicle or tail-end-charlie vehicle.
If you are carrying a mobile phone, enter the Roving Vehicle contact number that will be announced at the race briefing. Text or call if needed during the event.

A full Health and Safety Plan will be on display on event day at the Norsewood War Memorial Hall and Takapau Primary School.

Please be aware: This event is held to raise funds for community causes with all profits donated to Takapau School. By entering this event you agree for your entry fee to be considered a donation, with NO REFUND required in the event of a cancellation, but instead agree for it to be paid forward to Takapau School.
