Full Marathon

ENTRIES OPEN 1 August, 2017.

Entry forms are available through TridentResults.  The entry fee is $32, with a maximum level of 450 participants for this event (this includes a maximum of up to 50 X 3 person teams).  Entry levels will be reviewed and adjusted in future years, depending on demand.

 

42km Team Relay

ENTRIES OPEN 1 August, 2017

Entry forms are available through TridentResults. The entry fee for a team of up to 3 people is $80, with a maximim level of 50 teams for this event.  As acceptance of entries will be on a 'first come, first served' basis, team numbers could be reduced if there is early strong demand for solo entries.Teams of two people are acceptable if one person runs/walks two laps.

Late entries will not be accepted.

Please ensure you have read and accept the 'Rules and Waiver', accessed at the bottom of this page.

 

AGE LIMIT

The minimum age for participants is 18 years.

 

START TIME

The marathon starts at 7:00am on Saturday March 10, 2018. Please assemble at the start line no later than 6:45am, as the race briefing will commence at 6:50am

 

RACE REGISTRATION

You will be able to collect your race packs from Hamilton Gardens Pavilion, Gate One, on Friday 9 March 2018, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm and Saturday 10 March from 6:00am to 6:30am.

 

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

There will be no refunds or transfers.  If the race director deems it unsafe to hold the event on the day, there is no reserve day and no fee refunds or transfers to the following year.

 

CUTOFF TIMES

Due to traffic management limitations, and use of volunteers at aid stations, we have two cutoff times.  If you arrive at either of these points later than the stated times, you will be excluded from the event.

1. Horotiu turn-around (23km) - 3:45:00

2. Grantham Street road crossing (39km) - 6:30:00 

 

WALKERS

Marathon walkers are welcome, however the 'walking' will not be policed.  The purpose of this event is to encourage everyone to participate and finish, whether walking, running, or a combination of both.

 

PACE RUNNERS

There will be pace runners to assist competitors in reaching their goal.  Each pacer will be wearing a balloon with a pace time on it. Pace runners' times will be confirmed at a later date.

If your goal is to achieve a particular time, please seek out the appropriate pace runner and attempt to maintain his/her pace.

We are seeking volunteer pace runners.  If you can assist us, please make contact via our Facebook page or Email.

 

WATER STATIONS

We have water stations located approximately every 5-7 km, please refer to the course map.  There will be supplies of water and electrolytes.

 

FINISHERS MEDAL

Everyone who completes the Kirikiriroa Marathon, including all team participants, will receive a finisher's medal to recognise their hard work and achievement

 

PRIZEGIVING

The focus of this event is predominantly to encourage people to complete the marathon event, particularly those who have not run this distance previously.  There will be no prizegiving, but there will be a social gathering after the event, at a venue/time to be confirmed.

 

TIMEKEEPING & RESULTS

Finish times will be provided by Trident ResultsTiming and published on both our website and theirs. Official timekeeping ends seven hours after race start. Results will be posted on the website as soon as possible.

 

PARKING

Parking is available via entry Gate One and Gate Two of the Hamilton Gardens, off Cobham Drive.  Please follow the instructions of our parking marshals.  Be aware that both of these entry points will be heavily congested for one hour after the start of the event, as they are part of the course.  Parking is also available in surrounding streets. Please refer to location maps.

 

Please give due consideration to local residents and other Hamilton Gardens visitors when parking.

 

ROAD CLOSURES

There are no road closures in place as the course predominantly follows the river trail.  All roads are open to traffic AND NORMAL ROAD RULES MUST BE OBEYED.  Please follow instructions of marshals when crossing Grantham Street & Pukete Road and watch for traffic at all times.

 

FOOT RACE & RULES

For safety reasons, all forms of wheeled conveyance (baby buggies, roller blades, skate-boards, prams and the like) are not permitted to be used in the event.  Also, no dogs may accompany runners or walkers.
