TIP TRACK MARATHON 7: Cost of Living Crisis
Come join the fun in the seventh year of the Tip Track Marathon. TTM is all about hard hills, high-fives, and doing something stupid for the sake of it. There are no prizes. Your workmates will not understand why you did this. It’s not even that fun. But you’ll be amongst like-minded people and I’ll pour you a gin if you finish. So come along to the event that has it all – hills, bad smells, bad smells from the tip, finish-line gin, a cannon and Death.
This year the numbers will be capped – 60 for TTM and 40 for the TKT.

COURSE DETAILS:
Tip Track Marathon (TTM) –
The main event focuses on lengths of the infamous Tip TracK, notorious for its smell, steepness, rocky terrain and quad-destroying nature.
The TTM course is an out-and-back, out-and-back, out-and-back, out-and-back, out-and-back, out-and-back type course that has proven popular with participants. Each of the six laps is slightly over 7km, with around 400m in elevation (2500m in total). This makes for a challenging marathon but there is a beer at the finish line. Competitors must tap the sign at the top and the gate at the bottom, in order to complete a lap. Cheating is allowed, even encouraged, but anyone caught will be given an extra lap as punishment.
Recommended donation: $40
Te Kopahou Thousand (TKT) -
Like a one-night stand that refuses to leave, the TKT is back for a second tumble. The TKT is a short, easy trot involving the Tip Track, Spooky Gully, Waipapa Loop and Hawkins Hill. The climbs are steep and the views stunning, so this is one not to be missed. This is 14km long and, as the name suggests, involves a thousand meters of elevation.
Recommended donation: $25
DONATIONS:
No entry fee is charged. We will, however, be accepting donations for two charities: tbd.
There is a recommended donation amount for each race of $40 (TTM) or $25 (TKT). These are recommended only. If you are not in a position to donate, then give whatever you can, if you earn a bit more then feel free to pop in a bit more.
The day is a celebration of the Wellington running community. It is a social, unofficial event. Come along for a run, to support, and for a beer and meet some new friends along the way.
