COVID-19 Update - 1 September
Due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak in New Zealand and the uncertainty of being able to run the Hatuma Half Marathon
in it's usual structure, the Organising Committee has made a decision to make significant changes to ensure the event goes ahead.

We are going VIRTUAL and FREE for 2021!!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
That's exactly what we are trying to do by changing the way we deliver the Hatuma Half Marathon so that it can continue to be a highlight on the sporting calendar for our community (albeit now a much wider community, lol) and for our hard working particitipants who have been training over the last few months,
to provide them with an opportunity to put their training into action.

From humble beginnings back in 1980 when a group of running enthusiast friends got together and took on the challenge to create a running event here in Central Hawke's Bay.  Since then the event has continued to grow and has built up a reputation for being a well organised event to be shared with family & friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with 2021 being no different!

COVID-19 & Alert Levels
Under the current situation with lockdown and mandatory requirements for events moving forward the Hatuma Half Marathon wants to be clear to everyone wishing to take part in the event to adhere to all Government guidelines and requirements in regards to the pandemic throughout your Virtual event.
The Hatuma Half Marathon encourages social distancing and exercising in your own neighbourhoods (bubbles).

HOW DOES THE VIRTUAL EVENT WORK?

EVERYONE works towards completing a half marathon distance (21.1kms) over the course of 7 days
whether you are enterred as an INDIVIDUAL or as part of a TEAM

You choose how you want to break it down to suit your fitness ability, fit around your commitments and achieve your goals
For example: If you have been training to complete the half marathon then go for it and complete it in one session
OR if you are wanting to take things a bit slower plan for 1 x roughly 3km run or walk everyday for 7 days,
OR mix it up eg. - 1 x just over 5km run + 1 x 6km walk + 1 x 10km run
Just ensure that you cover the full 21,1km distance AND have your sessions logged in on the website before the event ends.

     EVENT DURATION:  8.00am Sunday 19th - 11.00pm Saturday 25th September

We recommend participants to complete multiple circuits on the streets around you home (eg. run around the block)

rather than an 'out & back' type course that could take you outside of your neighbourhood incase you should experience any difficulties
which would require
assistance - (This is COMPULSORY for anyone in a location under AL3 or AL4 Restrictions - Remain close to home).
This also allows for you to 'check-in' at home and also to set up an aid station within your bubble to top up with much needed
water, refreshments and other home conveniences.

Each time you complete a walk or run keep track of your time and distance using a smartphone app or fitness tracker watch or similar.
(note: the use of treadmills are allowed for those who have safe access to one)

Log-in your results using your edit code (you'll find this on your receipt) and input these on the 'Enter your result' Tab at top of this page.

Then track & view your progress on our virtual course map via the 'Route' Tab or check our the overall leaderboard on the 'Results' Tab
