TUESDAY 22nd September ORGANISING COMMITTEE UPDATE:

Although the Committee is excited to be able to host the 2020 event under AL1 conditions,
unfortunately Auckland and those within the region still remain in AL2.

It was our continued hope to have been able to welcome everyone and anyone to take part in the event in 2020, however
after gaining further clarification about Auckland AL2 guidelines the Committee have made the decision that
participants from the Auckland region will not be able to take part in this year's event.

The guidelines are clear and state that while Aucklanders are able to travel under AL2, they are encouraged to behave as if they’re taking their extra restrictions with them and are currently advised to avoid gatherings of more than 100 people, unless attending a funeral or tangihanga.

We understand the months of hard work and training that go into planning and preparing for an event,
no matter the distance and do not make this decision lightly or without regret, but ask for your understanding in this.

We will be contacting our pre-registered Auckland competitors to offer a refund or credit for the 2021 event.

Into it's 4th decade now and still going strong, the Hatuma Half Marathon is still very much a highlight on the local sporting calendar.  From humble beginnings back in 1980 when a group of running enthusiast friends got together and took on the challenge to create a running event here in Central Hawke's Bay.  Since then the event has continued to grow and has built up a reputation for being a well organised event to be shared with family & friends event in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Waipukurau Racecourse. This picturesque venue is able to accommodate ample off-street parking and has picnic areas and facilities.  The course takes in the entire circumference of Lake Whatumā, going in a clockwise direction. This mostly flat course, with a 5km stretch of undulations (around the 10-15km mark), provides for a very pleasant and scenic event that continues to attract both local and outside participants.

Enter as an individual or as a social team in either the walking or running sections for either the Half Marathon or 10km options.
All entrants are required to check-in on arrival.  (Teams compete as a relay, each completing one or more sections of the course. Max 4 people)
